Curtain & Blind Guide

We believe beautiful curtains and blinds are the finishing touch to any home, and something you’ll want to live with for years and years to come. As an independent, family run business with over 20 years of experience you can be sure that your order is looked after from start to finish.

“We are really pleased with the curtains. They really finish the room off nicely.”

“The blinds look super. Thank you so much!”

You will want to make sure you choose the right fabric for your curtains and blinds, which is why we have a wide range to choose from. When choosing fabric for your new curtains and blinds follow our useful tips;

1. Trends are a great way to find inspiration and ideas, but try not to be too led by them as you may end up regretting your decision in 12 months time! Try to focus on colours and fabrics you're drawn too, and that you know you and your family will enjoy living with.

2. Consider the rest of the room and house. Whether starting from scratch or adding to an existing room scheme, it is important to consider the other elements in the room to create a cohesive look. Think about flooring, paint colours, and other surface textures. Having samples of these will help you pull your ideas together, lay them out on a mood board or bring them into store to help you make your decision.

3. Set a budget for yourself. This will help you to narrow down your options. Fabrics range in price from £15 p/m - over £60 p/m. It is also good to consider fabric brands, some will be more suited to your style than others. We can help you with this by guiding you to the appropriate fabrics in store. For example, for a modern Scandi look, Villa Nova or Scion would be well suited. For a traditional scheme Sanderson or Swaffer would be great brands to start looking at.

If you feel over whelmed by choice, we are on hand to guide you through our pattern books and give advice. We can also order free swatches delivered to your home so you can get a feel for the fabric and colours in your room.

Our fabric library includes fabrics from top designer brands including; Sanderson, Morris & Co, Romo, Linwood, Harlequin, and more!

We also make bespoke cushions, boxed seat pads, bed runners and valances. You can be as creative as you like and really personalise your order.Talk to us about your ideas and we can tailor your order to you!

Curtain Headings

Double and Triple Pinch Pleat

A smart and tailored look. The fabric is gathered into a pleat of two or three folds, allowing the fabric to drape beautifully in long flowing columns. The triple pinch gives a little more wow factor with extra fullness and volume.

Pencil Pleat

A smart and classic look. The fabric is gathered to resemble a neat row of pencils. A versatile heading, it can be used on poles or tracks and works well with most fabrics and patterns.

A contemporary heading, metal eyelets are inserted into the top of the curtain allowing the curtain to slide onto a pole giving large even folds. Works best on a metal pole, with matching eyelet colour.

Simple and modern, the wave heading is relatively new and gives a minimalist look. Fitted onto a wave track you will have a neat and flowing wave effect, and gives a minimised curtain stack. We think it looks great on wide windows.

Roman Blinds

Roman blinds are timeless and elegant. They are made from fabric that folds up neatly to create a window treatment that will soften any room. Ours are made from high quality components, including a chain lift track. They are all hand stitched so that there is no visible machine line across the front of the blind. We put blackout and interlining in our romans as standard, we believe this gives a lovely weight and body to the blind. However as everything is tailored to you we can also make our romans with cotton sateen lining, which will let a soft glow of light come through your blind. Customise you roman blinds with borders in a contrast fabric. Or add a trim (such as a pom pom) to the bottom edge to give your blinds a personalised touch.

How we work

1. In store consultation

Visit us in store where we can help you choose the right product for your windows. You’ll also be able to see samples of our fabrics, curtains and blinds. At this stage it is helpful to bring some rough measurements with you, as well as any samples such as flooring, paint colours etc to ensure we find something suitable for your home. We can give you an estimate from your sizes, and order fabric samples to be delivered to your home.

2. Measure Appointment

If you’re happy with your choices and estimate we can visit you in your home to take precise measurements. We charge £35 for our measure appointments, but that will be deducted from your order when you spend over £250.

3. Place your order

Once we have provided you with a quote and you’re happy to proceed, we take a 50% deposit on placing your order. Our lead time for handmade curtains and roman blinds is 6-8 weeks, for all other blinds is 7-14 days. Once your order is ready we will contact you to arrange a fitting appointment.

4. Fitting

We work closely with local, experienced fitters to ensure your curtains and blinds are fitted and dressed to a high standard. There is an additional charge for this, which you pay direct to the fitter. We will give you a quote for this once we have measured.

Guide prices

Because our curtains and blinds are all made to measure we are unable to give you an exact cost until you have chosen your fabrics and your windows have been measured. To give you an idea, we have put together a guide based on a range of dimensions and the cost of our best selling cotton printed fabrics at £35 p/m. For curtains these prices include a pencil pleat header, and standard lining.

We hope this helps to give you a general guide. Costs will change depending which fabric and curtain heading you choose, and if you would like to add extras (eg. trimmings). As well as the addition of new curtain poles and tracks. A typical cost for fitting is £60 for one pair of curtains and pole. And £30 to fit one blind.

These prices are based upon our March 2019 price list and are subject to change.
